Status Ethereum OS Partners with OmiseGO
Status, a mobile operating system built on and for Ethereum, has announced that it will soon integrate the OmiseGO decentralized exchange (DEX) onto the platform. The move will enable interoperability and transactions across multiple blockchains.
“Today, we are proud to announce our partnership with OmiseGO—one of the leaders in interoperability, on chain and cross chain transactions, and Plasma scalability research,” said Status in a tweet.
Status goes on to describe in a blog post its relationship with OmiseGO founder Jun Hasegawa, which was formed through research projects and the Ethereum Community Fund. The Status developers plan to work closely with OmiseGo for seamless integration and to collaborate on scalability research.
Not only are longtime friends @ethstatus making valuable contributions to decentralization protocols like Whisper and #sharding, we share a vision of open #accesstotools for people all over the world. It’s one 🌎 we live in, thanks Status for being here with us #Ethereumspirit 🌈 https://t.co/7SCtJAcos2

OmiseGO, for those who are unfamiliar, is also built on the Ethereum blockchain protocol but focuses on building open infrastructure and financial tools. Status, as a mobile operating system “focuses on putting these tools into the hands and pockets of people around the world.”
The partnership is designed to provide both immediate benefits and to look ahead to the “advancement of the web3 ecosystem.”
“Status brings great value to the OMG Network with a multifaceted user-facing platform leveraging OMG’s back-end infrastructure. This partnership is a step forward for our respective projects, the community and the blockchain industry,” said Hasegawa.
OmiseGO is nearing the first release of its decentralized digital asset exchange, DEX, on a scalable and secure proof-of-stake (PoS) network.
DEX is designed to allow “interoperability for fully on-chain and cross-chain transactions including Bitcoin (or Bitcoin-like blockchains) and other blockchain platforms through clearinghouses in state channels or smart contracts.”
The decentralized exchange will also facilitate transactions with digital fiat platforms by using collateralized fiat tokens.
The OmiseGO software development kit (SDK) will be integrated into the native cryptocurrency wallet of the Status operating platform to enable access to DEX.
The user base of Status is increasing, and it sees the OmiseGO partnership as a large step for the team and community, declaring, “We foresee the partnership with OmiseGO as another step in the right direction towards decentralization.”
